Our most recent live Facebook chat, took place on September 3rd and we had a lively discussion about hiring opportunities, our recent pay raise and more! Q. How much OTR experience to work for you?

 

A. We hire students within 30 days of finishing school, or drivers with 3 months or more of recent experience.

 

Q. Can you explain any idle policy and also talk about the in cab cameras for new hires. Thanks.

 

A. Our in-cab cameras are for student drivers and are only installed for a short period of time after they finish with our trainers. For our idle policy, we do partner with a company called FuelOpps which rewards drivers for good driving and gives points that are redeemable for prizes.

 

Q. Hi everyone I’m currently in job screening process but I worry about the cdl test. What is the right procedure to take the cdl and how can I successfully pass in order to work with Con-way?

 

A. Your school will provide the training needed, but definitely feel free to reach out to current drivers here or on our page for their thoughts or advice on the experience!

 

Q. What CDL schools do you recommend?

 

A. CDL schools that we recommend must include a complete 160-hour course with a combination vehicle. There are many schools available depending on your location. Please give us a call at 866-265-2617 and we can speak to your location. Ask for a student recruiter!

 

Q. When does the new pay raise start?

 

A. The annual productivity bonus already started accruing on Monday, Sept 1st-the first payout comes in January! The mileage pay raise starts this Sunday, Sept 7th!

 

Q. Can I request a specific lane?

 

A. We accept requests if the lane is available. Feel free to give us a call at (866) 265-2617 to see about the availability of the lane!

 

Q. What I am asking about the Idle policy is there any anti-idle technology in the trucks?

 

A.  Anti-idle technology varies between the makes-was there a specific truck you want to know more information about? We try to be easy on the anti-idle, but most everything has something that limits idling.

 

Q. What kind of miles can I expect as a new driver?

 

A. Solo over the road drivers can expect approximately 2500+ miles a week, regional can average 1900-2200 per week

 

Q. What endorsements do you need to drive? I have been driving ten plus years. I only have triples.

 

A.  You would need to have a Hazmat endorsement or be willing to obtain a hazmat endorsement within 120 days of hire. We do reimburse for that endorsement as well.

 

Q. What about tankers? Also what type benefits and can drivers relocate?

 

A. Drivers can relocate as long as they are still within our hiring area. We don't require the tank endorsement, but it does open up the opportunity to haul more freight if you have it.
